Welcome to 2012 and what promises to be another exciting year at Atken Photography and Bridal Gallery.

Well as we closed an exciting 2011, we focused on a more user friendly website for our Bridal Boutique. Including a simple booking an appointment form, a location page with directions, other companies we like and recommend and our shoes page (http://www.atkenbridalgallery.co.uk/#/shoes/4558841625) which by the end of January will included a click and collect service!! just to name a few. We look forward to another update arriving soon with Atken Photography Website. Keep watching!

Getting to know both Me and Kelly (yes it's me Shane and I'm writing this blog) is we believe one of the most important aspects of your build up to your big day. We feel it makes you more at ease with us and comfortable when we arrive on the day. Seeing the way we work and producing some great informal shots is of course what we like to do best and knowing that it is just us two that are part of Atken Photography, gives our Bride to be and Groom to be confidence in our style of photography.

As we move closer towards the opening of our Bridal Gallery (2nd July, with wine!!) we have had a fantastic write up in Yorkshire Brides Magazine. Both Shane and Myself are extremely excited about the developments happening now and we are really wanting to give every Bride (and groom!!) a fantastic service from start to finish. Not only do we celebrate the opening of Bridal Gallery ( www.atkenbridalgallery.co.uk ) but we also have a real life wedding featured in the magazine, Amy and Andrew Pipes who's wedding we had the privilege of photographing at Newburgh Priory in York last month. Yes its that time of the year now! Weddings are coming in thick and fast as we move into spring and summer. It's certainly going to be a busy one, but we've got some amazing venues and very nice couples to work with. Lots to look forward to in the studio too with the opening of our Bridal Gallery, which is to stock some amazing bridal wear and accessories. All very exciting indeed!

The last few months have been extremely strange indeed! Lots of things happening, it's all very exciting will keep all updated in due course.

Black and white

I have a thing for black and white images and actually quite miss the spontineaity of the film process especially when dealing with mono. Although you can get the same results with digital it doesn't seem to have the emotional connection film had. Maybe i'm just being sentimental! The tonal quality can however totally change the impact of a picture - sometimes even change the emotion of the suject. Here are a few of my favorites.

Creating Stunning Pictures... It's not always easy!

Been Messing with some images over the last few days. Sometimes it just comes together in a matter of minutes, others can take hours. Creating stunning visuals is also dependant on the way the image has been captured. The picture gives a example of a standard composition. Its our job to make sure we produce pictures that give us the chance to be dynamic when finalising or producing albums.
